Eco Ranch Hasta, Bosnia

Last year I designed a charming tiny house in the stunning landscape of Bosnia. My client is an extraordinary woman who has decided to escape the buzz of the city and merge with nature. She is so rich in spirit but very modest in demands. I was pleasantly surprised when she pointed out to me that she wants to minimize the house footprint and maximize open space. All her requirements fitted into 55 sqm. House was designed entirely according to Vastu principles. Disposition of the kitchen, bathroom, and bedrooms are strategically placed in their respective directions. The center of the building is empty with the lantern that is connecting the space element of the house with the outer space (unbounded space). The interior is also well lit due to the windows in the lantern. All rooms have natural lighting and ventilation that reduce electricity demand.

There are two wells with potable water at the site that is enough to supply the household’s indoor and outdoor water needs.

The perimeter of the building was established after thorough calculations using Ayadi formulas. Ayadi calculations belong to sacred mathematics that Vastu architects used for millennials. Partition walls were placed following the main 9 x 9 grid system with the exception of two walls that followed the 27 x 27 grid.

Vastu buildings ensure maximum spiritual, health, and financial benefits for their users while working closely with forces of nature honoring their resources.

Villa Magha, Portugal

All my clients are phenomenal human beings, but some are especially dear to me as a result of a long friendship. This family is doing great service to their local community by volunteering for the Art of Living Organization, spreading knowledge of stress management and mindful living.

My clients’ main request was to save the trees on the site. They wanted a house with a minimal ecological footprint at the same time in alignment with ancient Vastu principles. So we built around the trees. The inner courtyard was part of all Vastu buildings in the past, but it is also a beautiful symbol of Mediterranean architecture. The central courtyard provides plenty of natural light and cross ventilation, but in terms of Vastu, it serves as a receptor of space energy.

The front part of the house is less private, it’s a space where they will receive guests and offer yoga, meditation, and stress management sessions. The northeast zone in the house is the most spiritual section, where activities like meditation, contemplation, and mindfulness are supported. Further from the street is a residential part with bedrooms and a kitchen.

Trees that grow at the lot are oaks therefore my clients wanted to use cork cladding on some parts of the house as a great choice of sustainable and locally produced material. Bamboo, a rapidly renewable material, another significant example of sustainable material, was used as shading for pergolas and parking lots. The parking lot area and paving are of perforated concrete blocks which allow absorption of the rainwater in the ground, thus eliminating stormwater runoff.

Dussehra house, Paraguay

Dussehra House is an escape plan. A place to recharge the batteries and rediscover one’s creativity. Vastu design technology is the unique science that enables us to do exactly that.

It’s a simple plan: two bedrooms and an open-space living and dining room connected to a fairy-tale garden.

The roof overhang protects from the strong summer sun, yet the house receives an ample amount of daylight from the high windows oriented toward the rising sun.

Dragonfly project,
Costa Rica

I enjoyed working on the Dragonfly project very much for two reasons. First, it is the house of my dear friend. Second, it’s located in my favorite country, enchanting Costa Rica.

This tropical family house was designed for the Yoga and meditation teacher (Mrs.), surf instructor (Mr.), and their kids, in a way that everybody has its own private space, but also a large living room that extends outside to the decks and pool area, where the family would spend most of their time together.

Inner courtyards serve as a blend between the building and surrounding lush green. The central courtyard has a more prominent role.

In Vastu architecture, the carefully calculated central zone is called Brahmastan, which connects the subtle energy of the house with the Universe and cosmic influences and enhances the spiritual qualities of the people who live there.

I enjoyed designing in collaboration with Spacesence from Costa Rica on this project.

Residence in Paraguay

This is the house for the very special woman who starts a new life in a new country. She has a clear vision about her next dharmic steps, and she wants to gain spiritual support only Vastu house can give. Therefore, every inch of the residence resonates with her vibration, aspirations, and intentions.

She wanted to have the house on two levels, so she could enjoy the view of the peaceful landscape not that far away from the Asuncion while she was practicing yoga on the balcony overlooking the rising sun.

Summers in Paraguay are tropically hot, so the passive cooling strategy we used is high ceilings with the fan, a simple, cost-effective solution. House was built with natural and regional materials easily accessible in the site vicinity protecting the environment from unnecessary gas emissions on transportation.
